Top news of the day;
The first lady of the U.S. is spending $4 million on her wardrobe for her Hawaii vacation. This is top news? What are we thinking? We are spreading gossip and quoting British tabloids about our Presidents wife. Why? Of course we know many reasons why and they are all no good. The articles lead us to believe that her wardrobe is coming out of the taxpayers money. It's not until then end of most of these trashy articles, does it say that she pays for her own clothes. Most people don't read the end of anything. Headlines are what is read and noticed.
Many of these articles do not even have the facts, just the first two sentences. Easy reading for most Americans. Cut and paste, that's how we get our news now. In an economy such as ours it seems very easy to rile up the average person who is struggling or unemployed. It's the headlines that hit you. Who wants to continue reading about Mrs. Obama's wardrobe after you've read that she frivolously spent 4 million of the taxpayers money?
The facts go on to describe a skirt she wore, to be thought to be priced at around $950 as compared with one that is similar. The contreversy over her $2,000 church dress was a 2 years old dress. I'd say she made a good investment. She has been trashed because her image is to be that of the average American woman but yet they say she is way over the top. I am sorry people, Mrs. Obama does represent an average American woman. The average American woman that is working is also spending much of her budget on shoes and clothes. We like fashion here in our country. We have brand names shoved down our throat at every corner. I suppose she should dress a little more shabby chic so we can get after her for having a homeless look.
Jackie O set a trend for the American women and then it spread around the world. Maybe Mrs. Obama's sense of mixing colors will catch on. Who really cares about all of this in the midst of a crisis in our country. We read and watch the news and hear that the economy is much better but I don't see it with the people that I have been dealing with from around the country.
We need to listen to our government who warns us of the closures of our libraries and our beloved post offices. Are we not going to be able to read books or send snail mail anymore? Do we need to be raked over the coals by the United States Post Office who tells us on high cost commercials how they are going to save us time and money with flat rate boxes. They will cheerfully deliver (free) flat rate boxes (free) and also pick them up for you(free). truth is if you have something really heavy to mail then this is a good deal for you. How ever most people are looking at the convenience and the so call saving of money, to realize that it is a big rip off. Use the free boxes and then take them tp the post office with wrapping or a brown bag and affix a label that you make and tape on yourself. You do not have to buy a post office delivery label to get your package mailed. By covering the box with paper and not paying the flat rate fee, you save about 50% normally. I always share this info when i am standing in line at the post office and I see someone with a flat rate box. 100% of the time the patron who did not know this takes the box home to wrap and will bring it back. Tips like this need to be widespread so we can save each other.
Just as the students on a northern California campus were maced at a peaceful protest, so will we be if we do not stand together. The occupy movement had the right idea without enough organization or money behind it. Start small and stand up for your neighbor, just start somewhere.

Well...I agree with you. People always have and will be tribal, it's hard-wired into our genomes. As soon as we all try to live in one whole mass of humanity: all colors, all creeds, all cultures, big problems start. Look at Europe today. The EU, an experiment that failed and never should have been attempted.
So Americans for Americans makes sense...Bob

Hi Denise. I didn't see that article about the first lady's clothes in any Brit paper, but I don't read them much. Is Mrs O rich?
Anyway, add it to the general mess of the world. Americans for Americans?? Did you mean America for Americans, or Americans for America, or just what you wrote? That would indicate Americans supporting Americans. I'm confused Bob
